Chana Pindi (Chickpeas-Rawalpindi Style)

Ingredients

pomegranate seeds

cumin seeds
2 tbsp
water

chickpeas soaked overnight or in hot water for 2 hours and drained
4 cups
salt

brown cardamoms

5 sticks (2.5 cm each)
cloves

coriander powder
4 tbsp
pepper powder
2.5 tsp
garam masala powder
2 tsp
mango powder
3 tbsp
green chillies slit

ginger cut into thin strips

vegetable oil
1/2 cup
ghee
1/2 cup
onion sliced
1 medium (100 g)
lemons cut into wedges

Method

In a pan, roast together pomegranate and cumin seeds and grind to a powder. Put water, chickpeas, 4 tsp salt, cardamoms, cinnamon and cloves in cooker. Stir. Close cooker. Bring to full pressure on high heat. Reduce heat and cook for 18 minutes. Remove cooker from heat. Allow to cool naturally. Open cooker. Drain off cooking liquid and reserve. Add remaining salt ( 3
